Busy Fall!

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Business has been fun lately. I’ve made a few NON-vegan things, too. When people really want them, I’ll do it. Although I realized last week that I just don’t LOVE doing it. Too much extraneous stuff. I like Vegan stuff because (besides the fact that I can eat it), it’s simple. Less ingredients. And that seems closer to pure. Make sense?

Here are a few of the things worth posting:

Here’s my friend Jamie’s requested Strawberry (non-vegan) Birthday cake. It’s nerve wracking to make a real cheesecake for me! It turned out well though, apparently. I wished it had set a little nicer, but it was gone in a matter of minutes, so I guess I did my job! And Jamie is a good friend, with a LOVELY family. He deserves it.

Next is the cake I did today, actually. It was a simple Vegan Vanilla Sheet Cake with Coconut Buttercream and toasted coconut sides. I liked the way it looks though. Hopefully they liked it!

And now, the Wedding I did the other day for a fabulous woman named Elissa. We had a tasting months ago, and she LOVES red velvet cake. I like to make my red velvet a little less red, because too much food coloring freaks me out. Anyway, for her special day she ordered a whole bunch of Vegan Red Velvet’s and then wanted me to do some NON vegan german chocolate ones. So I did. Here are a couple pictures her friend Matt took, and I will post more when her pro photos come back!

Here is the amazing email Elissa sent me after her wedding was all said and done:

MEGHAN!!!

Your cupcakes were SUCH a hit last night. I talked to everyone there
and they all agreed that the cupcakes were amazing. They didn’t
believe me when I confirmed that the buttercream on the red velvet was
vegan. I only got to eat ONE!!! Some people admitted to taking three.
They were gone in 2 hours! The one that our families tried to save for
us for our anniversary got scarfed up by my old college roommate, who
was drunk and didn’t know any better. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I told
everybody who you were; hopefully you’ll get tons of new customers.

LOVE!
Elissa

So, that’s what I’ve been doing. Yup, and I’m pretty psyched on it.

Hope the weather isn’t too cold in the northern world. I will be in Philly in a few weeks for a wedding, and I couldn’t be more excited about it.

xo.

Reusablebags.com!

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

A few years ago, I bought the best reusable bags off a (what i thought was) random site. As it turns out, it was one of the best things ever, and I still have the bags and their sticker on my wallet.

As it turns out, Natalie, from Bake and Destroy works for them!

They are currently in the running for Green Business of the Year award. They are, as I said before, an awesome company and website. Totally worthy of the award..please go and vote for them!!!
